Joe Cutler and Coull String Quartet

'Ping!' will explore the strong and distinct sounds and rhythms that table tennis players can create. It is a collaboration between composer Joe Cutler, the Coull String Quartet and various table tennis clubs. The piece will create intricate cross-rhythms between table tennis players, a string quartet and a soundtrack.

Yes, I heard and saw Ping! Absolutely super! The table-tennis players were every bit as good as the Coull Quartet, and they are brilliant. When I was young, we had ping-pong and music in the same room, but it never occurred to us to do both at the same time. A lady I spoke to at the Warwick Arts Centre said she intends to move things round in her house to have ping-pong and music in the same room.
