Dying shark washes up on New York Gilgo beach

Eager to scrutinize a species with few samples available for study, researchers Tuesday sliced up the carcass of an enormous basking shark that washed up on Gilgo Beach in Babylon, with plans to send samples of the animal around the world.
The barely alive 26-foot shark startled beachgoers when it appeared on shore Tuesday.
It's not clear why the shark died, but researchers speculated it was ill or had been injured.

GERMAN:
New York: Riesenhai lag auf Badestrand

  • Hey, it likes to bask, then it dies. What else does a basking shark is supposed to do?

  • People complaining about people not helping are so stupid. Sharks kill humans or bite off their limbs. I don't give a fuck what you say either

  • People are so scared of sharks, or cheer to see them dead or dying, which is such a shame. We need to help them, not celebrate in their demise. I wish they would have helped the poor thing.

  • @CrazyPandaify

I would have loved to see that. Basking sharks weigh up to 7 tonnes jackass

  • @KjackassF Not all of us are like that. Im not at least. There are a few of us that are actually respectful of nature and all it brings. Though not a lot of us are. I think personally. 70% of my fellow Americans are stupid or just plain assholes. though every country has its retards. i think most of them congregate here. or are just born here and have stupid parents and end up like there parents. I hope you come to realize not all of us are Disrespectful like this. just most of us. lol

  • Assholes. hey lets poke and prod a dyeing harmless shark. It disgust me how they disrespected a dyeing animal. And for you people that say oh its a shark it deserved it. first off its a harmless shark second off. even if it was a dangerous shark. you need to remember that humans are and always will be the main threat to all life on this planet. sharks are only doing what they are born to do.

  • who the hell is goig in that water after the ocean spits that thing out,, not me!!!! basking shark bisquit shark jelly shark i dont care what it is . besides it probably weighs a ton i would of got in its mouth feet first and took a facebook picture.

  • I don't think it's "dying" because the park dude said they don't know to it and how it's body washed up on shore... Just saying I think it's been dead..

  • @JeshuaLivingWord relax, these things are harmless, and if it got close, hit it's nose or gills and it will swim off, there gental giants :D

  • SHIT! imagine seeing that when your swiming in the ocean? I know it's harmless but it's still scary looking as fuck lol but I feel bad for it
