Hey I'm working with my dad trying to polish up my aluminum rims. We've already got the clear coat off of one of them and sanded down the really bad areas and we tried a cloth wheel and some waxes that made a huge difference but it tears up the cloth wheels extremely fast and they're rather expensive. I'm looking for a cheaper solution that will last through all four rims without emptying our wallets. Maybe felt wheels would help?

It's aluminum. "Mag" is the style of the wheel.

@MartyInLa Guess its worth buying then...

what if my wheels have clear coat on them already?

@sam88vue
If you're wheels have a clear coat finish then take care of them with products intended for clear coated wheels, not straight aluminum. For more specific help check out the AutogeekOnline . net discussion forum. -Mike

So.... Are the wheels aluminum or magnesium?

They are aluminum and they are still on my truck parked right outside my office. I have also purchased a second set of slotted mags for another truck and will be polishing this second set for another article including sanding them down. -Mike

Hi Shaun, I would need a good picture to really see what's going on to give you advice. Sounds like a horrible problem though and sometimes it's more cost effective to just get new wheel. -Mike
