As Gregg explains, edible grains, fruits, squashes, and other staples have different storage requirements in order to preserve their freshness, and avoid spoilage and rot.

    I love canning! Have you seen our videos on how to can pickles or sardines? Over on our Cooking Up a Story channel we have how to can pears and how to make small batch strawberry jam. There's so much to do - would love to get into fermentation too! Any other suggestions?
