This really does reflect the arrogance of current religion. The condesending tone that previous ideas were so ludicrous that lets all mock them now in the belief that the current ideas have all the answers. If religious groups had the humility and understanding that is professed to be the mainstay of religion then they would realise in another 1000 years the ideas of today will appear primitive, both in religion and science. No wonder so many are moving away from shortsighted religion.
@firminvernege We don't have a name yet but they want to publish it this year. I can get back to you on that. In the meantime, I would highly recommend 2 books; "After the Flood" by Bill Cooper and "Forgotten History of the Western People" by Mike Gascoigne. Also, "The Puzzle of Ancient Man" (3rd. edition) by Donald Chittick is a good one. There is a mountain of info in those 3.
@firminvernege That's actually what I'm talking about; it would have been better if he just gave the actual history of false religions; it all started at the Tower of Babel with Nimrod. Satan cannot create but only pervert what he sees God doing and that's what all false religions are about. Rob is so far off base that I think he did a lot of harm with his whole caveman thing. I'm helping to write a book on ancient man for a major Christian publisher and we're fighting the "caveman thing".
@ToshiroHoshi when rob speaks of the caveman thing he is addressing the idea behind false religions and not a history of them. he is just showing the engine that keeps pegan religions going and that led to the evolution of all these different gods....at least thats the way i see it
@ToshiroHoshi ok i guess what im trying to say is that there are many different ways to look at the creation story and one way is that Adam and Eve were names for man and woman during the story of the fall of man
and another thing is that im not trying to make this a heated argument ... just discussion. :)
@seffer777 Not sure what you mean....? Adam and Eve were the first humans; "For Adam was formed first, then Eve; and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor." 1 Tim. 2:13-14
Rob Bell has spoken a completely false history of how religions began. All false religions have their root at the tower of Babel. ALL of the world's false religions stemmed from Nimrod and his wife. wow, I can't believe what I'm hearing though, I need to leave this comment on the first two parts, which is where Rob speaks of cavemen as if they were not intelligent; Adam and Eve were the first humans and likely the most intelligent of us all.

@ToshiroHoshi that is of course if you are going by a modernistic view of the scripture...
