In order to rig a fishing line for trout fishing, there needs to be a floating line coming off the fly rod and a good, tapered leader of different lengths, depending on the fly. Find out how to attach a fly with an improved clench knot with help from a fly fishing guide in this free video on fly fishing for trout.

  • @uchooberweare Generally speaking, the longer the leader, the less likely you are to spook the fish. 9 foot should work just fine for most water conditions, but for especially still and calm water, you may want to jump up to a longer length of leader.

  • @uchooberweare I use 9 foot, works fine for me!

  • does 9 foot work ok too...im new to fly fishing and thats wat i have will it break easier or is it strong enough?

  • thanks :)
