I'm currently in community college, and most of my books cost around $150 or so. It's $8000 a year. State (including room and board) is $20,000. Not cheap at all. What many of my friends do now (especially with Tablet PC's and Smartphones) is get the E books...way cheaper, and you'll never need to worry about having the right addition.

I was talking about the text book thing with my sister the other day. I wonder how long it'll be before they're replaced with some sort of e-reader device -- so you can just download your book every semester. I also wonder if the text book business would LET that happen, or if they have too much to lose.

@PlanetBierwagen I know man, something needs to be done, it's high way robbery. Luckily there is online sites that let you rent books for about half price, but some colleges want you to get the most recent version. Still a bit cheaper, but not by much, hopefully the e-reader-device comes along soon!
