Always loved this piece. Nice job.

I don't know of any composers who write like this today. I just finished a work for piano and orchestra in the romantic tradition that is here on YouTube, "Symphonic Variations After a Theme of Cesar Franck" modeled after these very Franck Symphonic Variations but I'm the only one I know. Everything I hear by composers today is ultra avant-garde so their audience is very limited. OTOH, I would not be taken seriously by the community-at-large for writing in the traditional style.

@dalecampbl7 yes i can't believe humans can make such music definitely one for my desert island discs

@afertyus1000 I rank Franck's piano quintet, violin sonata, symphony in D-minor among the greatest late romantic works...I think his piano quintet rivals Brahms'...but luckily we can appreciate it and isnt it wonderful :)

@dalecampbl7 yes i agree it's very involved and cannot be appreciated fully in one hearing

I've always found Franck's music to be so overwhelming....like a force to be reckoned with...a force of nature that doesn't dissipate until the VERY end. true heavy weight of music.
