Giuseppe Scandola & Maria Chiara - AIDA - Ciel, mio padre

The excellent Giuseppe Scandola is Amonasro, Maria Chiara is Aida.
This is one of the best recordings of the act III scene. Scandola is in fantastic voice and belongs to the great Amonasros of the last century. It is funny how great voices like this are not famous while Milnes or Warren are known by everybody. Scandola - the great Italian school - a real Verdi baritone.

@XP11XP A fat record contract with either DECCA or DGG I guess. Then he might have had a career like Cappuccilli who (let's be honest) did not have half the voice of Scandola.

It's one the best Nile's scenes who I have seen.Maria Chiara has the possesion of a phenomenal dramtic voice,and Scandola,well,to add something over his Amonasro it's only redundant.

Oh my God, this is the best Verdi baritone i have ever heard! I stumbled across the VHS in a library today. Pity there aren't more recordings of him.

@AfroPoli Very sad, not to talk about Wixell, Fischer-Dieskau etc. who always got to record the big Verdi roles. I agree, Scandola is magnificent. Very nice upload!
