There was segregation all over th US at that time. Blacks couldn't even go to restaurants, use water foundains or do many jobs. That was at the SAME exact time.

So w/ your logic, it "wasn't racist" either because "that's just how it was".

Well, racism in media like art, books & films , minstrlWAS racism 50 yrs ago, 100 yrs ago & 150 yrs ago.

One of the questions that I have since first seeing this cartoon was:
Mickey was banished to kitchen duty at the end of the video, but what about Minnie? The video didn't show what happened to her at the end.

im pretty sure walt wouldn't design an all-black character cast if he was racist against blacks...

except that's what minstrel IS - a racist depiction of blacks in order to demean them. Blackface not only makes fun of thm using big lips, calling thm lazy, saying they just play music & are happy (especially on plantations), but it serves to justify slavery & later on descrimination by saying what are superior.

Using blacks in this context isn't honouring them.

If you think minstrel isn't racist, then what is?
