Beaten and Arrested by KPFA/Pacifica Bosses

On 8/20/2008, police were called by KPFA and Pacifica management to arrest a unpaid staff member Nadra Haeidy Foster at the station for trespassing. She was attacked, hogtied and arrested. This interview was conducted at the Alameda court house on 8/25/2008 with
some of her supporters.
Following the arraignment Lemlem Rijio the interim manager of KPFA entered the court house to drop the charges filed by KFPA and Pacifica. Other charges are still pending.

It's sick to read the comments here from people defending the police's sadistic actions. What is it that causes Americans, particularly white Americans, to try to justify any egregious actions by police? Apparently, a lot of white Americans think that it's okay for police to hospitalize, maim, or kill someone for any reason or non-reason whatsoever. Right-wing members of my own family have told me that police killing even innocent people makes them feel safer. Sick fuckers.

doesn't matter where you live, old bill turn up and tell you to leave a building, then you leave. the decision to use force wouldn't be taken lightly in front of witnesses, no matter how corrupt you consider a particular police force.

I'm not saying they definitely didnt use excessive force but maybe her emotions got the better of her and she kicked up a fuss in the heat of the moment.

We were walking towards Lemlems office when [Foster] stopped suddenly, Withers said. She pushed back against me forcefully so we were within an inch of each other. She was in my face, and kept yelling at me. She was yelling so loudly several people came out of their offices to see what was going on. At the time I was frightened ... I was afraid she might attack or hurt me ... She just kept getting louder and louder. I told her if she didnt stop she would have to leave.

The destruction / implosion of left groups is epidemic. It would be great to hear from groups and organizations that really work -- what their bylaws are, what their history is, how to get things functional again, for the community, not for the business managers. Every time I turn on KPFA it has the most bizarre music, and I am amazed any station can remain functional with so much crappy music programing. Some are great or at least interesting, DJ Sep, Davey D, the music after Dem Now . . .
