Not a big person on celebrating Hallmark designed celebrations. But celebrating a child's life is a pretty cool thing to do.
Voila, (here it is) it could be the helpful annual reminder for the child that their neglectful parental unit(s)/guardian/family members love them (at least once a year.) *blech and humbug*

yeah, i think of it more as a time set aside to celebrate and be thankful for the life of the kid. it has become more ego-centered (kid-ego and adult-ego) unfortunately. don't throw the baby out with the bath water!

I agree. My very first memory is of my third birthday so I don't believe people should spend a ton of money on their kid's first-second b-day party. I do think a gathering of the parents' friends should happen. Also, I got a present at my first b-day party that I kept with me until I went to college. I still have it somewhere in my parent's house. It was nice growing up with a tangible item I received so early in my life. But no, I don't think a ton of money should go into the celebration.

To me the point of the first birthday party is kind of to have fun and film it and stuff so the child can look back on it later and remember their childhood vicariously, I've had lots of fun watching videos of my really early birthday parties that I don't remember, and I think every child deserves that privilege. If you think that isn't a valid reason to have a first birthday party, then whats the point of filming anything at all from when a child is younger than 2 or 3 years old.

never had one - wait o.0 well I guess I did, but...

WHY ARE YOU BLEEPING!!!?
Stop bleeping, please?... its really irritating, and anybody that can't handle the odd swear words that are said, shouldn't be watching your vids.
Just saying!

From a rational point of view i totally agree with you. But from another point of I think all these types of useless events are a good way to bring people together for the good and the bad and make life a bit different and less monotonous. Imagine if you'd erase all useless things, i think life would seem pretty useless too :P
it's pretty late right now so don't go try find some hidden and deep stuff in my comment, i'm just tired.... :P

Happy birthday, Pixel!
I'm so in agreement with you on this one. It makes no sense when the kid is so young. And I'm not a fan of super fancy birthday parties at *any* age.

Why wouldn't you get together on any other day? Because your child/cousin/ grandson wasn't born on any other day. It was born on THAT day. No other day will ever compare to that one, no matter how extraordinary it is. I obviously don't remember my 1st birthday, but I see the photos and I keep the teddy bear I got on my bed to this very day. First birthdays aren't stupid. They are one of the SMARTEST things out there :P
My mom saved all the cards from all my birthdays. As an adult, it was so lovely to read through them. I was especially touched by the cards from my grandparents who have all passed away. By what was written in the cards, it was clear that people were celebrating the joy I had brought into their life and left great messages of hope for my future. I would suggest collecting messages for future pixel to enjoy.

@danceandrevolution that;s a good idea, also, to a certain extent that is what this video thing is all about too. Well, not THIS video blog, but the other one wherein I'm documenting her whole life.

Sounds like someone didnt get a present on their 1st birthday lol.. It is kindof pointless though when you think about it
AntGotMullah 1 month ago
@AntGotMullah even if I had I wouldn't have remembered it, so what's the point? A similar argument exists for the "First Christmas" although that event at least has precedent as a family gathering type holiday, so there is an independent reason to get together aside from the fact that it's "Baby's First _______"

You censored the word "ass"...
JesterAzazel 1 month ago
@JesterAzazel yep, but I didn't censor the second occurrence of the word "fucking" at the end of the video. I find self-censorship to be funny, I'm not sure why, but I do.
