An aboriginal protester tells the Vancouver Olympic Committee to "shove it" at a protest of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games in Kitchener, Ontario. The theme of the protest was "No Olympics on Stolen Land."

The Olympics exploited Indigenous cultures and land. I don't know why this whole "hand outs" idea is still kicking around, but it's not true. The Canadian government spends as much money on Native people as it does everyone else. Read up on your country's history, folks, before you start running your racist mouth.

But I think that the Olympics is actually the beginning of a better relationship between Native and non-natives in this country. Stopping the Olympics would not stop the problems.

I'm a white female living in Vancouver and I think that people need to understand that the reason that there are so many problems in the Native community is because of the way their anscestors were treated. They were abused and abuse passes down through the generations. It is not fair to say that "these people" are "useless" or want handouts. There are problems that they have to deal with that were caused by past generations.

If you want something, work for it. I am white and not from a rich family. My childhood was hard and I had many nights when all we had to eat was pop corn.

I got 3 paper routes when I was 12 and worked my ass off. I used that money to buy food. When I was 15 I applied for a job everywhere and eventually found one and I again, worked my ass off. I now own my own business and still working my ass off. I'm still not rich, but I'm getting by OK.

Stop looking for handouts. Get off your ass

It is sad that the busiest time of the month for police officers is when the govt checks come out, that being social assistance and child tax benefit. That money is supposed to be for food and clothing for the children, correct? What do I know I am just and over taxed Canadian. These people need to take responsibility for themselves.

In my field of work I deal with these people on a daily basis. When I talk to them about getting a job or finishing their schooling, they laugh at me. They state why would I work when everything is paid for? I the Canadian taxpayer must be the sucker for working. They tell me that the more children they have the more money they will get from the govt.

How much more money do we throw at these people, because it is obviously is not working. I am from Manitoba and our jails are busting at the seams with aboriginals. If you ever go have to go to the hospital the halls are full of aboriginals. The welfare system is being abused as these people, thinking it is a free check and not means to better themselves. These people dont want to work, they want it all given to them.
