In Responsive Reading Instruction, a reading intervention published by Sopris West, teachers use a variety of strategies to develop students' understanding and skills in phonemic awareness, the alphabetic principle, letter-sound correspondence, sight word recognition, decoding, and spelling. RRI also uses a Supported Reading component to assist student as they develop accurate and fluent text reading and become strategic in their comprehension.
