I can't agree with you on this one Daan.
Population growth is exploding in nations without social programs to help the poor and needy. In those nations, kids still die of starvation, exposure, etc...
Population growth in those nations which have social programs to help the poor and needy, but for immigration from the less economically affluent areas of the globe, would have declined over the past 50 years...and would be poised for an even more significant decline over the next 50 years.

The proposal of enforcing many sanctions on other countries, and therefor causing potential war, leading to poor economy, etc. It's a domino effect leading up to the deaths of millions, returning us to our neolithic times, possibly, humans wouldn't be such a hazard to other life, and hopefully over population wouldn't exist!
