Sure, that would've helped NATO's image to allow Ukraine and Georgia in. Ukraine: where politicians behave like drunken football hooligans. Georgia: Bush's little mouse who tried to drag the U.S and NATO into a war not in their interest (in addition to being bogged down in two losing wars).

Ukraine and Georgia must be able to enter NATO but only the people of Ukraine and Georgia makes this decision. Russia cannot make decisions for two recently independent nations. The decision of Ukraine and Georgia to enter NATO is at the decision of the people. If the people decide they want their countries to enter NATO then they must be able to enter NATO without threats or interference from Russia. If the people decide not to join NATO then Ukraine and Georgia are not to join NATO
