@MorristheKatz Oh, that's it! it's kinda interesting; finally the answer to my question.
-
@JuanPaBJxGothic No. It's parody, a clear exception to the copyright law.
-
@matizaph They were boy friend and girl friend at Queen's college.
-
@JuanPaBJxGothic neil Sedaka and Carol King dated each other at queen's college. He wrote "oh carol" to her and he wrote "oh Neil" to him.
-
@matizaph he's the one who had the crush - it was unrequited on her part. her song was a humorous response to his song "Oh! Carol" which was about his unrequited crush on her. Read "Girls Like Us" for the scoop.

a strange but fun song

They went to college together and dated. It sounds like he sings on this.
As for pronouncing his name wrong, the Carole in the song is a hillbilly from Tennessee, so country that she "would even give up a month's's supply of chewin' tobacky just to be known as Mrs. Neil Sedacky". It's supposed to be funny.
I find it weirder that at the end her granpappy says "dad gone" instead of "dadgum"...northerners trying to sound southern and failing.
Carole was a songwriting machine back then, a good one!
