breaking barriers: we make our own destinies (read description)

AHHH! Forgive my horrid horrid riding, but this horse is SO FREAKING FORWARD ITS INSANE! went up to 2 foot 11 or so, the barrel, recently measured is at 3 foot 2 1/2, and we jumped about 3/4 inches lower than it. My mom put a cap there, she says we have to be a ring with an instructor to go any higher. New trainer on the way? Possibly. Found an eventing stable right down the way from me, and made a great friend who is doing Novice this year =]

I recently hit absolute rock bottom with my confidence, and was really concerned if me and Empy will ever have a chance at something big. I mean, there are SO many riders out there who are better than me, and have huge fancy warmbloods and show all the time, and they act like a 3 foot jump is just a tiny little warm up x rail. So yeah. I just kept feeling that we are failing, falling behind while the rest of the world goes on and progresses.
Well, today has really proven me wrong, and I wish I could go, oh yeah, I KNEW she could do all of it without any problem, but I didn't. I doubted my horse, I doubted myself and I doubted our purpose, our destinies. And there are people who keep telling me, what makes you and her so special, you can't do anything, she doesn't have the ability, and neither do you. There are also others who keep me going, and thank you for your support. But as it is in most situations, the voices yelling that you can't are often taken to heart more than those whispering, you can. When it should be the other way around. It took her to pick me up, to show me that we can be a great team, that its all about trust.
So what you see here isn't miraculous, isn't really amazing, isn't that high, or anything like that. But to me, it means the world. Because we broke the barriers in my mind of
doubt
mistrust
low confidence
and a disjointed team.
Why are we special? We aren't but we ARE a team of 2 bodies, one mind, with a will to win, not just medals or ribbons, but love, trust, and a relationship that will span both of our lives.
