Cyclepod1 is an arse and clearly has no concerns for the safety of officers. He also has an opinion with no basis of fact. People like him cause unnecessary problems.

yes it is a good thing for too long the police havnt been handed the right equiement too protact themselfs and the public id ruther they had guns tbh we cant deny the fact the gun crime is high enough
-
@cyclepod1 doesn;t mean they WILL shoot it at everyone, does it? may not be a need to. Why don't you get a reality check and stop being part of the "what if?" brigade....

Good stuff :)

Tasers have not been designed with pregnant women in mind. Policy designed by a man and one that doesn't have a pacemaker not doubt! Not enough thought has gone into this it appears.

Yes, is really nice to know that they will fire at anyone no matter what medical condition they have including pregnancy. And they they can be fired more than once. Just look at that stuff on wiki.
Disgusting.

This is definitely a good thing in my opinion.
As a resident of West Kent I'd feel much safer knowing that the police have the right tools to deal with violent situations.
I hope all of our front line officers are issued with these.
Taser has been extensively tested and is approved for use by the government. There is no evidence to suggest pregnant women, people fitted with a pacemaker or people with disabilities are at any greater risk of harm.
Police officers will use Taser where appropriate but this is not the first option. Officers have a range of other skills and tactics including verbal communication and PAVA spray. They will consider all means available and choose the best option for the circumstances.

Taser causes far less injuries than the ASP baton or PAVA spray, which have been in use for some time.
The decision to extend Taser was discussed and scrutinised by the Police Federation and the Kent Police Authority, an independent body consisting of both men and women and chaired by Mrs Ann Barnes JP.
In addition, the Youth Panel and Citizens Panel, made up of residents from Kent and Medway, were consulted on our plans to extend the use of Taser. Both groups supported the decision.
