NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) - An undercover police operation took an unexpected turn Thursday night in Niagara Falls.

Police were investigating drugs and stolen cars at a home on Westin Avenue when an undercover officer went to the door.

Niagara Falls Police Captain David Lagault tells News 4 what happened next, explaining, "Somebody came from the house. Threatened one of our officers with a shotgun. Person with the shotgun went back in the house. Barricaded. There were four or five people in the house. They refused to talk to us. That's when we activated our SWAT team."

Police were eventually able to make contact with the people inside and everyone surrendered peacefully. Two men were taken into custody.
