This piece travels deep through several different areas of my soul.
It uses hints of some Keith Jarrett themes, and I also open up and hum some melodies that I hear over the piano accompaniment. There are more parts in my mind to this improvisation than I'm able to play on the piano :).
It goes to some pretty crazy places around 06:30, and then takes some different directions, opening up some emotions that I had been keeping in through many of my other improvisations.
My dream would be to orchestrate this, and have a full orchestra play behind the piano improv. Maybe some day ;)
Please leave comments and let me know what you think!
Thank you to Tim Jahn from Beyond The Pedway (www.beyondthepedway.com) for putting the whole video together with our fancy 3-camera Flip HD shoot! We have a fun little behind-the-scenes video that I'll upload soon.
Happy holidays,
Weekly
I've been trawling youtube for piano improv lately to help inspire my own and this is far and away one of the best I've found. Agree with the commenter who puts this in the same league as Keith Jarrett, which I'm sure you will agree is a ridiculously big compliment. Hope you're still playing and best of luck.

hey, I'm just starting to record myself playing classical piano, and I'd like to know what video camera you used (flip HD?), if you used an external mic, or if you recorded it seperately and put the recorded audio on top of the video? What program did you use to edit the video? Sorry for all the questions, I was very impressed by the video and sound quality :]

@TheMusicd00d Hey! sorry i didn't reply to this sooner - I used a Flip Min HD, and a Zoom H2 for the mic. I mixed in Cubase SX 3 and then Tim Jahn spliced it all together in Final Cut. I'm glad you enjoyed!
