The gay community is watching the devastation take place among themselves: the dead, the dying, AIDS, herpes, hepatitis C, colorectal cancer, peritonitis, etc. These people need help and compassion so they can get out of a self-destructive behavior. Instead, we keep telling them they are O.K. How many more will have to die until we are able to show real compassion instead of giving them ideological mantras?

Great comment. The tactic of the pro-8 people is to continually harp and repeat and shout and drown out on this as a rights issue until everyone believes it. Marriage is a male-female relationship and it always has been and it always should be.

how can you say this is not a gay rights issue. if the constitution took away your right to marry the opposite sex and you could no longer say this is my husband or wife, I am sure you would feel discriminated.

Right on! Jerry Brown totally abused his authority as Attorney General to manipulate the real issue & mislead the electorate into thinking its a "gay rights" issue.
CA Family Code 297.5 gives civil unions the same legal rights as married couples. Prop 8 is about respecting the peoples' ability to define marriage & amend their constitution...back to what it has ALWAYS been. Gay activists have exposed themselves as cowards & anti-democratic for trying to circumvent democracy through the courts.

Gay's were aloud to get married to each other and by voting yes you have now stopped them from doing this...

Nothing turns a cute chick uglier than prejudicial contradiction. She's saying prop 8 isn't a gay rights issue, yet reads clear as day from the top of the state issued document: "Eliminates the RIGHTS...".
