Hello,
Today I am going to be giving you a look at the new and discontinued Kogadget iPhone Light Mod kit that was available for the iPhone 4 and 4S. It come in a white/black version in either a original or Steve Jobs Tribute logo style.

The mod consists of a new back-panel with a transparent logo of either original or Steve Jobs Tribute. Along with the new back-panel you get some 3M tape, installation tools, and the LED light-panel its self.

It's a little sketchy on how it installs, but it is how it is. I must say to the untrained eye this thing is awesome and completely unique. Even to a iPhone connoisseur it's pretty awesome. Now with saying, the mod does have it's many flaws. Such as: The star screw driver is of very cheap quality (would suggest a better one from iFixit or others), the top doesn't seal completely allowing a little room on the top for dust and light to come in and out, light leaks from left side of back-panel and lastly the back-panel is cheap compared to original (expected)

Would I say don't go for it. Of course not, it will impress just about everyone you show. To me that's worth it right there. When they see the Steve Jobs Tribute Logo it's even more of a trip for them. I like seeing peoples reactions and trust me, you will get a lot.

Installation took about an hour because things just weren't cooperating. Like in this video, even after installation a little pressure in the wrong direction can cause the wire to fall of it's required resting position thus rendering the light of no power.

Yes, there's room for improvement and I'm sure when well see others coming out with even higher quality mods. It's only a matter of time.

Thank you,

  • depending on how hot the light gets you could color some plastic wrap any color you'd like and wrap it around the light.. and maybe it would'nt be as bright either. id try it XD

  • @mikedeenfer That's true, that would be pretty easy to do. I might have to try that!
