Galveston Island State Park, near Houston, spans from the beaches of the Gulf of Mexico to Galveston Bay. The natural coastal setting is a great spot for swimming, fishing, camping, picnicking and wildlife viewing. Visit www.LifesBetterOutside.org for more information.

  • I love this state park, and i have stayed in both the beach and the bay side. The bay side is good for crabbing and hiking, but bring alot of bugspray. My personal favorite is the beach side. Theres only a short walk to the beach from the camp sites. I also like going thru town and looking at the hurricane damage.

  • Visited Galveston Island State Park twice in the summer of 2009 and had good times. Most people swim along the seawall in Galveston but the fee to enjoy this much more secluded beach is so worth it!!! The fishing is good with my son and I catching some really nice speckled trout and sand trout. Another guy caught a 3 foot hammerhead which was really cool. If you want to camp, REGISTER BEFORE YOU GO!!!
