Preserving Norrath - The Hole

The Hole is what remains of the original city of Paineel. The ruined city was devestated in the war with the beings of the Underfoot and although the plane was sealed, many of the elementals were trapped on the other side of their home. The Erudites that lived in secret were forced upward and eventually built the new city of Paineel high above the chasam of The Hole.
