The 4th and final CART race at the now defunct Chicago Motor Speedway. Held June 30th, 2002. Interesting feature on how they convert the racetrack back and forth between horse racing and auto racing. The same top 3 finishers from the previous race in Portland repeat here in Chicago.

  • I wonder why there is a thumbs down. Is the quality bad? Did I miss something? I don't usually watch these before I post them.

  • Huh. Tora Takagi qualifed 8th for this race. Was this his best ever CART start, or did he ever start better than that? B/C in all the CART races that I have seen start in, he tends to start near the back of the pack.

  • @TheAntihero6212 His best start was 3rd at Michigan in 2001 and Miami in 2002.

  • @TheAntihero6212 This race did match his best career finish of 4th, which he did at Houston 2001.

  • Awesome post. From what i remember this was one of the final races at Chicago Motor Speedway. It was in a bad neighborhood so they built the state of the art Chicagoland Speedway and ditched this bitch. Anyway great upload thanks.

  • @LMCMInterloper My Bad, yes it is RATM. It's "Wake Up", off their Self-Titled Debut.

  • @Buggy1Boy CrapwagonChampcarfan uploads all the CART races. But, some 2002 races haven't been uploaded. Check his channel out.

  • Great track. Too bad it's just a memory now. If Chicagoland Speedway hadn't opened, this track might've succeeded. I guess people wanted to see ANOTHER 1.5 mile cookie-cutter track. :-\ R.I.P. CMS.

  • @UltimateEEnEFan Yeah. Looked like a longer version of Bristol. Too bad they had to close it.......

  • Was that Rage Against The Machine at the beginning of the intro (I obviously know what the second song is)?

  • @Buggy1Boy Also Fontana

  • I'll also do Laguna Seca, Toronto, Cleveland, and Australia from 2002 in the future...I just need to update my list.

  • @de31168 my guess is that it was probably a original IRL fan who hates CART with a passion that disliked the video
