BMW M20 valve ticking or what?

Valves are freshly adjusted, low mile engine. This sound level can't be right, even for an M20 which is notorious for the "sewing machine" sound. Sound did not change before & after the valve adjustment. Possibly an exhaust leak? But to my ears it sounds more mechanical. All suggestions appreciated.

Also, my new humongous Dynomax muffler is a huge improvement over the Remus fart can from the PO that it replaced. Quieter & better tone.

@Dirtnap300 - In person, injectors sound like a sewing machine: "ticka-ticka-ticka-etc." This sounds like: "whacka-whacka-whacka-etc."

camshaft - timing beelt?, bearing shell - crankshaft bearings?

I just did the valves on my 89 ix and it sounds the same.

check the sparkplugs wiring . One of them might be loose

@dadsrag I just adjusted my valves last night and i went to .080 and i dont hear a sound other than than the injectors. Maybe the valves are adjusted just a bit loose or even at the recommended .010 they can clatter a bit with lighter viscosity oils
