@saskwatcher Linda Borgeson was beyond bland! Jacquie Courtney's highly emotional Alice was legend; however, I thought Vana Tribbey brought a renewed vitality to the role. She should have been retained longer. Never cared for Susan Harney or Wesley Ann Pfenning at all.
Soaps used to do that back in the day to do occasional credit/cast rolls. Jeopardy! actually has a closing segment timed out at more than two minutes from time to time, probably due to few incorrect responses and triple stumpers.
I was under the impression they were going more for an Alice Rachel Mac triangle - vs. an Alice Steve Rachel triangle at this time frame... They knew, we knew and the whole wide world knew that no man was going to really and truly stand in the way of Mac and Rachel.
David Canary was recently interviewed about retiring from All My Children, but when asked about his career, he was very tight-lipped about his time on AW. He said he didn't particularly care for his job there, and he alluded to it being a hard and cold work enviroment
Funny how when Victoria Wyndham took over the role of Rachel, the Steve and Alice triangle still worked even though Robin Strasser was playing Rachel when it started out but after Jackie Courtney and George Reinholt were fired, I dont think the new actors could be believable
The revival of the Alice-Steve-Rachel triangle MIGHT have worked had they cast a competent actress as Alice. Linda Borgerson had zero chemistry with anyone in the cast. Also, she had no compattibility with David Canary. Nothing, zilch, bupkus.
Also, Rauch needed to have cast an actress the audience believed for one second could get Mac away from Rachel; he did not. The magic pairing was Richard Bekins' Jamie with Beth Collins Marianne, Now that worked and should have been front and center.
Although this was a very blah theme and title design (compared to the ultra-brilliant interlocking rings logo and Rubenstein theme), I still liked the still shots behind the credits that they continued to do for a while after the theme change on 09/07/81.
Paul Rauch, I noticed is still the producer of Another World trying to revive Steve/Rachel/Alice triangle. He screwed it up the first time and then he screwed it up the second time! I guess he realized his mistake in firing the stars of a Another World. It's too bad he wasn't professional enough to apologize and correct the situation.
