Ever been in a blackout without a flashlight in sight? Leave the Energizer Weather Ready Flashlight plugged into the wall and it'll automatically turn on when the power's out.

Transcript:

This is the Energizer Weather Ready Rechargeable LED Flashlight. The cool thing is that it plugs into any wall outlet and automatically turns on when there's a power outage, making it easy to find in the dark. It also has a night light mode, and works great as a everyday flashlight.

We're in the living room where, as you can tell, the power's just gone out. No problem here though.

We've been using our Weather Ready as a night light, so it has a fully-charged battery that lasts up to 3 hours when used as a flashlight. We also installed one on each floor of the house just to avoid anyone going bump in the night.

So, what should you do in a power outage? First, check to see if it's just your breaker— nope, power's definitely out.

Next, make sure all your important appliances are unplugged— a power surge can damage them.

Don't open your fridge or freezer unless you have to— a closed freezer can keep food frozen 24-32 hours.

And if you need heat, never ever use outdoor gas or propane heating equipment indoors— both give off dangerous carbon monoxide. We're using our safe Emergency Preparedness Kit to help stay warm. And a deck of cards to stay entertained.

Now we play the waiting game...

Well that was fast. When you're done with the Weather Ready, it goes right back into the wall outlet to recharge for the next outage. Or the next time you need a late night snack.

  • 3 hours doesn't sound like a lot of run time but then again in an urban environment, power outages rarely go past the 1 hour mark...
