I have been trying to record with Garageband, but when I connect my guitar into my macbook, the sounds (especially the distortion) sound like shit.

it takes a lot of time to setup right distortion in GB but it is possible, default settings are sucks for sure. I recomend to use amplitube plugin to Garageband if you want to record some metal / rock music.

On my Garageband it's called Ominous Crunch... and the model is Modern Stack, so don't know why the difference. Hey, but it worked and Thanks!!

thanks for doing this video ... i also watched your video on audio box ... i have macbookpro, audiobox, gibson les paul studio, and a 120 W PA ... i used your settings from this video ... love the sound i have ... however, i get a lot of fuzz while playing ... i've tried playing with the inputs/outputs and gain, but still get fuzz ... any suggestions on how to best set up my guitar/mac/pa?

So can you just plug your guitar in this program and your pc and speakers act as your amp? I didn't think you could do that. I wouldn't think it would sound very good if you could. I'm just siting here thinking, WTF?

@MrAshrak117 I wouldn't use it as my amp, but for demo recording/practicing purposes it's great!

Have you ever tried to connect an acoustic guitar? How does it sound?

@aldoaug I have connected an acoustic guitar to my Mac before. The sound is ok, but I always prefer a microphone for acoustic guitars, especially for recording!
