@pharyngealized Yes-I bought it like this on Ebay about 2 years ago. I actually prefer my low line Yamahas and Tama Camcos.

The tighter the head the looser I adjust the pedal adjusted. I prefer my batter bass drum head on the relatively looser side with a tighter pedal combo. The reso head is tight. The batter maybe 2 turns after the apparent baginess is gone. Thanks for the compliment!

It is better to be able to play both heel up and heel down because they have their uses in different music style. For a walking bass style, you don't play heel up, it sucks. And for heavy metal, playing heel up will make your bass drum sounds loud enough.
