Dedicated to Briony509, because she's awesome, and she also loves this book.

This is a video focusing on the events in the book 'Looking for Alaska' by John Green. Check it out! It's one of my favorites.

This video is very spoiler-y if you haven't read the book.

Warning: epic long explanation + frustrations ahead!

This is actually my second attempt in making a Looking for Alaska video. In the first attempt, I tried to keep more to the book (putting in quotes, adding in the Colonial, Takumi, Lara, the prank, etc.), but it was frustrating me too much and I couldn't finish it. So I decided to loosely base this video off the book, and focus more on the relationship between Alaska and Pudge rather than retelling the whole storyline. In attempt #1 I also had a different cast, which I wasn't entirely happy with. BUT THEN, one day I finally found an Alaska that I was somewhat satisfied with. So, this was made! Yay!

(Also, I apologize for the horrible job I did on editing the song. Hope it doesn't butcher the video too much?)

(*The girl at 1:34 is supposed to be Lara, in case that causes any confusion.)

Gillian Jacobs - Alaska Young
Joseph Gordon-Levitt - Miles 'Pudge' Halter

"Miles Halter heads to boarding school in Alabama in search of the Great Perhaps. There, he finds a circle of smart but rebellious friends who initiate him into their life of pranks, drinking, smoking, and serious wrestling with life. He is particularly drawn to the mysterious and self-destructive Alaska, whose actions have consequences for her friends."

"So fall in love while you can still hold your head up high, and pretend that you're alive." -Lovedrug

Edited in Sony Vegas 7.
Enjoy?

  • Wow oh my god.

  • The book is full of emotions and I really couldn't get rid of all the pictures I got in my head after I read it. And this is just everything I saw and thought while reading it, like all the emotions made visible. Honestly, this video is amazing. There aren't real actions in it but nevertheless it's just perfect because it transmits the right feeling.

  • What movie are the clips from?

  • best thing i saw in a long while if not forever. It's a perfect representation of the book. Gonna read it again now :)

  • This. Is. Amazing.

  • Please tell me John Green has seen this.....

  • Amazing.

  • That was stunning (and I hate that word).

Third time I've seen this video and I can't get over how good it is. Well done!!!

  • Woah. This is breathtaking.

I'm about two-thirds of the way through the book and just bawled my eyes out.

Also; funny thing is, I watched (500) Days of Summer the other day and was thinking that Joseph Gordon-Levitt would make a good Miles, too. xD

Anyway. Your video is absolutely stunning. Great work. <3
