Salvage City is an exhibit, developed by and featured at Long Island Childrens Museum in the summer of 2006.
Salvage City was intentionally designed to remain a Work in Progress throughout its three month run; serving as a tribute to the creative collaboration and cooperation among the Museums visitor. Landscape, home and sky were celebrated through (used) materials, color, texture, sound (and silence) in our environment. Under the guidance of Artist-in-Residence Shirley Panton Parker, Salvage City—a multi-sensory hands-on tour de force—inspired all to roll up their sleeves and get involved in rethinking the environment we live in, time and again.
This video represents visitor collaboration, caught in time lapse footage, over 90 days of installation.
