Waynes World ('92) - No stairway, denied

To me the fact that Stairway was cut out of this and replaced with another riff is an example of greed in the music industry. This scene had him play about 4 notes from the song. Stairway had been around for about 20 years when this came out I would say that they had already made significant money from it. Without this riff being played the joke loses its point. Whoever own the rights to this song is an asshole for not allowing 4 notes from it in one scene

@manoftomorrow79 It's common knowledge among guitar players like myself that the very first thing you should do when examining a guitar in which you hold some interest is to play "Stairway to Heaven," as the quintessential rock tune's tonalities slightest wavering shall be made clear and the instrument deemed unsuited to further experimentation. So says the unwritten law of the music store.

@DashH90Three It's not. They had to replace it.

It doesn't even sound like Stairway really :')

Not only wasn't a simple riff allowed in the movie, but the tabs have also been blocked on Ultimate Guitar!

No stairway? Denied!

I Agree, the joke loses totally the point because he is playing anything but Stairway.
-
they had to switch stairway with another song because of legal reasons. so this is something completely different. but hell waynes world rocks \m/

Universal or whoever owns the rights to this song are arseholes, even removing fucking tabs off the internet. WTF? They're denying little kids the chance to learn stairway to heaven even tough there is no way learning to play the song can have any kind of impact on their profits.
