WSPA ambassador Leisel Jones will be presenting a Channel Ten documentary on human-wildlife conflict in Kenya next month. The Olympic gold medallist spoke about her filming experiences on 9am with David & Kim today.
Leisel made time in her busy training schedule to travel to Kenya with WSPA earlier this year. The one hour documentary will be aired on Channel Ten on 22 November at 2pm.
This moving film follows Leisel as she witnesses the beautiful wildlife of Kenya, from elephants and impala, to cheetahs and lions, to giraffe and hippos. It joins her as she experiences the warmth and hospitality of the Kenyan people when she visits their communities.
The documentary explores human-wildlife conflict issues in Kenya and the WSPA projects working to tackle these; from education programmes, to eco-tourism, to alternative, sustainable livelihoods to replace poaching, to some surprisingly simple methods to keep elephants away from villages.
As Leisel herself comments: Thats whats so important about the work being done here by the WSPA it encourages the people to implement the solutions themselves.
Look out for further information on the documentary here in November!
