@reformanda2573 We live life with the assumption, believe nothing until evidence is present. We do this in all are day to day living, i.e. I know where my house is, I know my parents love me, I know my name... I know these things based off the evidence.
Therefore you cannot propose something (i.e. the universe is intelligently designed) then ask me to disprove it. I cannot disprove such a thing as if this is not true. The burden of proof is on you to prove to that they are there.
@reformanda2573 Your last sentence shows a misunderstanding of evolution - all animals are evolving all the time (e.g. emerging HIV resistance) - you cant say 'no fossil has ever shown an animal evolving' because that doesn't make sense. Adaption IS evolution, they are not different. Evolution works when animals adapt over generations to their environment via small changes to their bodies via genetic mutation. Mutation is spontaneous, and can be passed down through the germ line to the offspring
@reformanda2573 Well admittedly Im not a scientist but I'm training to be one. Nucleotides which hold the information is simply a chain of molecules that are read a certain way. These chains can arise naturally, and often do in solution. We also know mutation creates changes (information) - easy example is HIV resistance, which arose by chance at one particular gene. If HIV resistance can arise naturally, then we know that any resistance, to any infection can also arise in similar circumstances.
@Chainslaw4 Don't pretend to know things you don't. There ARE possible causes. "Something from nothing" isn't as improbable as you think. And you still have to describe where GOD COMES FROM! Same problem. Also, even if we can't yet prove something from nothing, it doesn't mean Jesus came here out of a pristine vagina and got nailed to a piece of wood. At BEST you could rationally believe in some kind of deistic God. Anything else is a leap of faith and a guess.
@a566626 Atheism is not a belief. It's a lack thereof. And there is a direct, rational link from believing the world will end to using up all its resources in the meantime. If you HONESTLY thought that this would all end in ten, 20, 30 years... why bother recycling, etc? It wouldn't make any sense. And I don't need a relationship with god to do good. I do good because I like seeing people happy. Not out of fear of punishment.
@reformanda2573 Well like he was saying.. Would you rather trust thousands of the smartest people on the planet trying to prove each other wrong? Or would you trust a book written 2000 years ago? He isn't saying that people who believe in intelligent design are idiots, he is stating that the trust doesn't transfer over..
3) ScientistS, on both sides, readily claim that the information they now have concerning one cell during the time of Darwin compared to now, would be the difference in comparing a Volkswagen to a galaxy. And, most scientists on the evolution side now having that information, admit that it would be almost ridiculous to say that everything came from a single celled organism. Everything including animals, people, galaxies, etc. would literally, by chance, have to fall in line - PERFECTLY!
1) Never, EVER, in the history of the universe has anyone produced evidence of a universal negative. So, to say with such certainty there is no evidence of intelligent design is, in and of itself, the very definition of arrogance and stupidity and lack of study.
2) Adaptation and evolution are two different things. Yes, species adapt but there has never been fossils found of ANY species during the middle of its evolutionary process. EVER!
