A 1962 recording of "Whole Lot of Shakin' Going On" by the Royale Monarchs. This southern California "surf band" from the early 60's featured Roger Stafford on lead vocals & rhythm guitar, with Dan Anthony (formerly Jaramillo) on lead guitar, Wilson Smith later replaced by the formidable George Haraksin on drums, Jack Schaeffer on tenor sax and Ed Loewe rounding out the group on bass. While playing the "Sock Hops" they often performed as backup band for touring recording artists, Jan and Dean, The Hondells or The Honeys. While at Bob Eubank's Cinnamon Cinder they backed up weekly such acts as Jackie DeShannon, Dick and Dede, The Ronettes, Little Stevie Wonder, The Coasters, The Rivingtons and the legendary Chuck Berry.
