Blue Island, IL is located in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. A major junction is located in Blue Island. The CN, IHB and CSX cross, Metra crosses on a bridge, and Iowa Interstate has a connection track. Power far from limited to those roads. NS, BNSF, UP, CP and the occasional Chicago Rail Link train can pass through this junction.

It was being transported from the paint shop in Kansas City down to the FEC.

Where is the best place at junction to sit and watch with out being bothered by the law?

Dolton isn't the greatest area but you are convienently located right at their town hall. You shouldn't have any problems sitting in front of town hall, but I would stongly recommend staying in that area and stay away completely after dark.

Pretty easy a train from downtown can get you there around 45 30 mins

I'd love to but I'll be in Wisconsin Friday. Make sure you try to catch the EJ&E, time is running out for J power in Joliet. Also if you go to Blue Island, be sure to go to Homewood. If you are coming from Ohio you have to pass right by Homewood to get to Blue Island anyway. Also, Dolton, another busy spot is right by Blue Island.
