In the Mix is the Emmy award winning PBS documentary series for teens.

A record number of immigrants are being naturalized in America, especially Hispanic and Asian groups. However, animosity towards immigrants and tensions over race and customs are often sources of violent confrontations. As one young immigrant described it, America is less of a melting pot and more of a "salad bowl with lots of little chunks." In the Mix profiles five teen immigrants of different races and countries, including the Dominican Republic, China, Russia, Africa and India/Tanzania, to convey a deeper understanding of their motivation in coming to America. We learn about the experiences and challenges they face, as well as their aspirations for the future. In addition to breaking down stereotypes, the program is also supportive and of high interest to teen immigrants.

"I'm always on the look-out for resources. I implement training for teachers on how to use effective teaching and support strategies for youngsters who are immigrating." -Melodee, CA
