South Devon Railway, 'Heritage Transport Gala' - Saturday 12.09.09

For the 2nd weekend of September 2009, the South Devon Railway held a 'Heritage Transport Gala' which saw six steam locomotives and a diesel in action over two days. My Dad, Uncle Aaron, GJDobbzy and jakeyboygen attended on the Saturday of the event (12th).

The steam locomotives were the four currently operational resident fleet and two 'guest' engines from other railways. These were GWR 2-8-0 42xx 'Heavy Freight Tank' Class number 4247, visiting from the Bodmin and Wenford Railway in Cornwall, and GWR 2-6-2T 45xx 'Small Prairie Tank' Class number 4566, from the Severn Valley Railway in the Midlands.

Vareity was key at this gala. Running, apart from the locomotives of course, were two main sets (both made up of five coaches, one blood & custard, the other chocolate & cream), a two-coach GWR 1940s style local set, a single BR built 'Autocoach' number 228 and in Blood & Custard livery and two goods trains (An 'Engineers' & a 'Milk'). All these sets feature in this video at some point.

Thanks mate, 4566 was so at home! I do like my shot of 1369 at the end too, pitty stock was in the platform as she would of been going faster lol!
