Prevention is also a great thing. Absence of sounds can attract burglars while owners are away. Using burglar deterrent CD (SuperDeterrent) in combination with light switch timers, I am sure can greatly reduce chance of home invasion.

Great Video! The REBAR Door Security Device by kickproofcom must be installed on every entry door for maximum security and door frame reinforcement.

Take a look at the ONGARD door brace here on youtube. Needless to say any device can be defeated, however proper security is about slowing down an intruder giving you and family members the precious seconds needed to get to safety, wait for the police or possibly arm yourself (if your properly trained) A home security plan should be designed in layers. Ie: door security, exterior motion lighting, alarm system etc. No one device will keep you safe from todays thugs.
Stay safe

Security of the house must be of high priority. Your video was educative. What I do want to know is what are the other ways through which a thief could break in?

There are several products, common are some sort of reinforced box for the dead bolt with several long screws that actually screw into the 2x4 frame instead of the trim When my house was built I reinforced the frame so it can not be flexed. A lot of door frames can be flexed with a large pry bar enough for the latch and bolt to release. Best bet is a high quality exterior security door with a steel or rust proof alloy frame which prevents them from even getting to the front door at all.

Here in Phoenix, Security doors are common, think steel screen door on steroids.. After seeing several lock bumping videos here I called up the company who installed mine last year and asked them if the lock they put on the door was bump proof, it wasn't so I had them replace it. I also have a high end wireless monitored alarm system that is always armed when I'm not home. A radio in the front room on a variable timer to make noise and a large dog in the back yard.

About the bottom lockset being picked with a credit card... Most quality doorknob locksets come with a "Dead Latch" They have a pin on the back that stays pushed in when the door closes, and this locks the latch bolt in place... Most exterior doorknob lockets I've seen have these... Therefore most doors (even without a deadbolt) wouldn't open with a credit card if installed properly.
All are important! What I am addressing here is to not get a false sense of security during daylight hours and to use what deterrents you already have.I not unlike alot of people did not realize the ease of getting thru a typical bottom lock. Security systems, deadbolts, locks only work if you use them.Just wanted to get people thinking security. Thanks ===Bob

Most thiefs want to minimize their exposure to the public.Anyone can take a chainsaw to the side of a building to get in,they usually dont want to. Bob
