The introduction of sweeping land reforms in Namibia is threatening the livelihoods of hundreds of white farmers. Emmanuel Ismael's home is a small farm in the heart of Duerreland, Namibia. Yet he fears that all might soon be lost in the face of President Sam Nujoma's land reclamation programme. With black farmers desperate for land, the Namibian government has adopted a strategy designed to win them votes -- evicting white farmers. 192 foreigners have already lost their farms. But European farmers are worried that only the politicians will profit from the changes. "They are not battling against poverty but are simply changing the colour of the skin of the owners." In fact, the first victims of the land expropriation will be the black workers. Farmers believe that foreign investment is the real key to agricultural development.

  • Just a quick response to this video and to some of the comments made here.

Most of South-Africa's remaining white population of 4.4 million people have no where else to go but stay in Africa. My forefathers went to Africa in 1700 were will i go now? Me and my brother are the 19 'th generation of white Afrikaner in this land. Most of Africa's Afrikaner white people have the same story to tell. Our land is Africa.

  • Namibia has now a policy of willing buyer willing seller, the grn wont grab the land without pay....please update yourselfs.ths not RSA or ZIM here we respect human rigths..

  • wow

  • you are racist you out,big up for the good farmers

  • @SpiralGalaxy1

They can selfidentify just like anywhere else in the world - the pass laws are gone, remember?

This whole 'White African' nonsense started with the scam artist, Ben Freeth and that fraudulent propaganda piece, "Mugabe And The White African". Which nobody bothered to fact check, by the way.

  • Is this part of a longer documentary? If so, what is the name of it? Thanks

  • I see some rather evil people here. If you want to take land away from citizens of Namibia that are white then compensate them and repatriate them to their homelands. It is rather evil to seize the property/business of someone that is net producer because of some perceived historical wrong. It seems some here really believe that the sins of the father are passed onto the son. It is this thinking that keeps people from wanting to invest. If that is how you are... farmers should let you starve.

  • @gjc82071 The question is whether the poverty problem would be resolved by land expropriation. It is the Namibian government which plays the race card.

  • I have a great solution. In every/any area where there is an ethnic majority/minority, the minority, regardless of race or citizenship, cannot own land! Sound fair? No? Oh, then I guess as with most ideas, it just sounds good, as long as it's being done to somebody else, & not you. Racial discrimination goes both ways, dummkopfs! BTW, is a black who moves from USA/Europe, to Africa, more "African" than a 4-5th generation white African?
