This video commemorates the near-Christmas December 11th snow that affected Southeastern Louisiana in winter, 2008.
This blanketing snow has no precedent in local memory, and is not expected to happen again.
Most of these photos were taken in Hammond, Louisiana on the campus of Southeastern Louisiana University.
I remember that day, I was supposed to take my pre-cal final and I didnt take it until january because that monday I had to fly to San Diego. A week later we went to LAS Vegas and guess what? A blizzard hit us there so it snowed there the first time in 40 years.

I live in Pueblo, Co but was born in Independence, La, went to SLU in the late 70's. Nice video. Thanks for the memories. I remember it would snow about every 8 years on average. I have several "Super 8" movies of snow days back then in Independence.

This is a fabulous video. I am a Freshman at Southeastern, and had my finals on December 10th. LOL. December 11th was a day I will remember for the rest of my life, and not just for the snow! This video will always be a reminder.
Thank you for posting this!
