Hon Vong Phu I - Thai Thanh

In Phu Yen Province in Central Viet Nam, stands a rock formation on top of the Truong Son mountains chain resembling the silhouette of a Mother carrying her Baby Son (pretty much alike the (recently collapsed) Old Man of the Mountain rock on the Appalachians in New Hampshire, USA).
Legend told that once, The King decreed that troops be sent out to fight foreign invasion. While the brigades left the village, a mother carrying her baby son went up the mountain top watching her husband departing, and longing for his return. In the wait, Nature formed a long line to come and visit her, counsel her to come home before her youth faded. Time turned them and the Nature Line into rocks, The Line into the Truong Son chain, and the Waiting Mother and Baby Son into Hon Vong Phu ( The Husband and Father Longing Rock) that greeted the triumphant return of the troops, among those, her beloved husband and his loved father. Nowadays, the region is much visited by locals and tourists, coming to pay respect to heroism and love, and to admire the scenic landscape.
Vietnamese composer Le Thuong composed the legend into music, normally divided into 3 episodes: Hon Vong Phu I (The Departing Brigades), Hon Vong Phu II (The Waiting Mother and Baby Son), and Hon Vong Phu III (The Triumphant Troops Return).
