Talks around such a topic have been spoken about all over the world. Spiritual conversation throughout history have been speaking of the counsellor and comforter like a Holy Spirit that is their for everybody to find. Could it be our higher self? Is it God transcending time and space to be with each of us? hmmm. Even though many words have been used to describe the Holy Ghost nobody today seems to be directing people to being able to have a first hand encounter with their personal 'guide'.
In keeping with mainstream Christianity, in trinitarian theology the holy spirit is one of three parts of God.
As I read the Wikipedia explanation of the Holy Spirit I see a rehash on the same cryptic platitudes I hear in church. So we go to church and give our spiritual master who is the preacher 10 percent of our income for what? There blessing? A place in heaven? If the priest has learned how to receive the miracle giving powers of being filled with the holy spirit why is this gift not being shared with followers? The most likely answer to that question is that the preachers of today are no different then the Pharisees referred to in the Holy Bible. As warned of in scriptures many priests are living in self delusion which is the same as being filled with a false spirit or light that decieves the deluded preacher into believing they are talking to God. The same spirit then deceives it's church going followers who blindly believe what they are told by the person behind the pulpit.
After all the miracles spoken of in the bible, why did they stop occurring after most of the original disciples were killed? Jesus made masters of his disciples because he was a true teacher. A real master makes his students into masters. The line of truth got severed once the last empowered disciple was executed and so all that remains is a fake religion. How unfortunate. So then what gives? Why aren't the experts in God really showing people the way to that counsellor who is there to guide everyone? What else could it be but the love of money or power. If every who went to church realized their own empowerment with the Holy Spirit guiding them then they would no longer attend church which has a tendency to distort the truth as Christ would have us understand it.
Now that I've made it clear that i'm not really a church enthusiast I'd really like to share my own thoughts on the Holy Spirit. Here is one universal truth that applies to everyone. The only thing separating you from God is you. Or rather your ego. Move past your ego and you will find God within yourself. You know the old saying, "you can't add more water to a cup that is already full". You need to empty your full cup of old water so that it can be filled with renewed living water. Empty your cup and you will be able to receive your new truth. If you haven't done this yet then you won't really know unless you try. Simply suspend your old belief and take a tiny leap of faith. You'll be pleasantly surprised the first time you truly realize that God has been with you all along.
Although the Holy Spirit desires that everybody receives we may also choose to not hear and instead remain uncertain about God. We have been blessed with the gift of free will; yet for some that gift is their downfall as they choose pain over peace. That choice is being made whenever you think you are alone in the world or separate from God. The key to internal guidance from the Holy Spirit is to empty your cup of your own creations and allow it to be filled with God's. In other words change the beliefs that no longer serve you or your life's purpose to the idea of having an internal guide that is God who will never lead you astray. Then simply ask for guidance in areas that you are still uncertain.
What I am saying comes from my personal experiences and thirst to really be in touch with God's guidance. Having drank the water and eaten of the bread it is much more difficult for me to be mislead. I would rather be guided by the Holy Spirit then by another person who is less then perfect. For me, once I felt the internal assurance and peace that the presence of God brought me I knew that I'd also been mislead by church doctrine. I can't hold the priests accountable for like Christ said of the jews, "forgive them Lord for they know not what they are doing".
I'd still head over to church and pray for those who are mislead seekers that God would some how set them on the path of truth when they're ready. I pray that any judgement I have against the church is one of compassion and the desire for the truth to shed light where the darkness of deception remains. Let the Holy Spirit rain on all you who are receptive vessels and give nourishment to your spiritual fruit. Ask God in faith for the light of truth to be your guide then surrender to the truth you receive understanding that what you pray for that God wants you to have you'll receive.
The KJV has ruined Christianity. KJV is the only Bible translated by a government..he even has the word "easter" in the bible. King James made the bible trash. If you believe in the LAWS..Gravity, Water,...and so on..then the Holy Spirit dwells within you. You do not have to be a christian or any other religious sect.

@HolySpiritSentMe If you are referring to the realization of universal spiritual principals being unchangeable laws that govern the same way as our known physical laws such as gravity then yes. I also see the Holy Spirit as being our higher spiritual counterpart that holds the blueprint of our potential and thus is the perfect guide for each of us.
