this weeks topic by Krista: We all know there are 'groups' within the T community such as crossdressers, transvestites, gender impersonators, etc... but this topic deals with Transsexuals specifically. Do you believe that there are varying degrees of transsexualism? In other words, does a person who elects to not have SRS (permanently or just temporarily) but still lives fulltime in their chosen gender considered to not be a "true" transsexual?

I'm sorry you're having such a difficult time. You're right, we really should be there for each other. There are times I'm ashamed on behalf of this community. But at the same time, I'm often amazed by our capacity for understanding and compassion. Someday, we'll extend those qualities toward everyone. I completely agree with the message in this video about the importance of solidarity and the fact that there are varying levels of transexualism and that the entire community of persons with transgressive gender needs to stick together in the "gender revolution" I often think about how i don't feel completely male or female but right now i identify as a feminine male. gender is too layered to label so easily, labels are just for convenience and simple explanations. We have a long way to go.

identity policing is totally bullshit. butch, ftm, femme, genderqueer, androgynous, whatever! explore and enjoy your gender, however queer it is. :)

I dont know it just feels like lately its like I am more accepted as me, by people in "normal society" than I am by my trans brothers and sisters, which always makes me wonder why its that way instead of the other way around. I am like we as a community should be there for one and other, instead of setting up some kind of trans-standard. I dont know if I am just ranting or what, but I always feel like an outkast to both, like I dont have a place where being me is accepted..

My girlfriend and I were talking about this and she said that the problem isn't that we don't know the answer to our genders, it's that the question itself is all wrong. It's like the question of gender is too often asked in the language of mathematics and the answer can't be expressed with anything but poetry. It just doesn't match up. Don't be afraid of backlash, eventually you'll find people who love you for who you are and who can appreciate the poetry of your identity.

I really really enjoyed this video cause I often feel like this and never know where I quite fit. into the spectrum, but I do know I am in the spectrum. I always seem to get backlash from the community cause I tend to enjoy being some where in the middle.
