USBC Open Championships 2009 Team Event - Brian Mounts Bowling

I bowled the 2009 USBC Open Championships March 14-15, 2009 in Las vegas, NV. It wasn't my best performance (157, 171, 190) but I had a few bright spots and it's worth remembering with this fine video.

You'll notice that my tendency for all three games was to tug it inside because if I didn't it wouldn't finish aggresively on the back end. For reference the first two games I threw a Brunswick Fury Pearl and Twisted Fury; the third gaem I tossed an old Buzzsaw. As you watch the video you'll see my problem by noting all the 3-pins I leave followed by the occasional 2-pin or washout. The shots where I left 2-pins were the ones where I generally liked the ball out of my hand the best... the ball just didn't finish down lane, which is why I tried moving more inside or slowing down. Eventually the third game I switched balls to an old Buzzsaw and had a bit more late lane reaction but it wasn't enough for me to find any significant carry. That was my best game with a 190. Of all three games I missed one non-split/washout spare. I was solid; I just couldn't hit the pocket with drive.

Very cool video! I hope to go to this tournament one day. I remember seeing you bowl in San Diego, at Sunset Bowl. I always admired people who could do the two-handed bowling technique.

Too bad about Sunset Bowl though; the condo they put in there still haven't all sold. :/ I'm still in the neigborhood though; I bowl predominantly out of Kearny.

yeah my name is Eric. I used to bowl at Sunset Bowl, and at Kearny. I don't think we were ever in the same league. As I recall, your league was before mine (9pm). I would just watch and wonder how someone could bowl so accurately like that! I have some videos up, from me bowling at Kearny Mesa, just so you know I'm not some strange person writing :-P I am in Portland, Oregon now. Have you heard from Fred, Jim, Pete Milton, or any of those guys?

Cool, I found the Kearny videos, I love those back drops they used to have. Regarding Sunset, no, I haven't heard from any of those guys. The only people from there if seen in years are Billy and Louann... they moved over to Parkway.

i have spackled in the two handed bowling technique, never was that good at it, very difficult so kudos to you for being able to do it.

Thanks for the comment - that's how I look at it; you can't be at your best every time... though you would like to be. :)

I just admire all the one-handed bowlers out there. I can't do it; I think you guys are doing something difficult. ;)

im sorry dude but u better work on your consistency and accuracy before u go to a tournament as big as that honestly im 15 and probably have an average than you i got my first 300 on this pattern i carry a 215 average

lol seems like you had to little or too much ball, maybe next time keep an abralon pad near you, the red/silver ball at 4:04 would've been money if it was dulled just a little bit. just a thought nice bowling though i hope you had fun

approach and timing is the factor for the good game and it seem you make a control all of this, just keep on practice...

It looks like your ball was hooking the minute it hit the lane. There was a bit of oil in the middle and a bit of hold area when I bowled. I am surprised you didn't try moving more inside to take advantage of the oil in the middle of the lane.
