-Clip 6-
The Real Richard Nixon
Vol. 2: "Pat"
Interview with Frank Gannon

In this interview/documentary segment, President Richard Nixon discusses the Watergate scandal, his summit in the Soviet Union during the Watergate scandal (with a phlebitis stricken leg), and his resignation from the presidency of the United States. He especially focuses on how his wife Pat Nixon responded and acted during these difficult events.

The video clip comes from 38 hours of interviews that Nixon did with Frank Gannon in 1983 during eight days of interviews spread out over several months. Gannon used to work for Nixon and was well acquainted with the former president. Subsequently, Nixon is more at ease and open here than in most of his recorded interviews.

Originally there here had been no clear intention to create a documentary on Pat Nixon when the interviews took place. The segments on Pat came from different days, originally interspersed among a variety of topics.

  • She was a wonderful first lady. Unfortunately the liberal media never really portrayed her in the light she deserved.

  • Pat Nixon was a tough lady. Talk about stand by your man.

  • Much better educated... Gee Dick, we really miss you, NOT!

  • @nmfd72 lmao "Liberal media" Provide evidence for this.

  • of course it could have been there, becasue our astranauts left it there

    touche, Mr president!

  • what i cant find out is why, why did nixon do this. why did he use time and money to spy on democrates, instead of building up the country.

  • @Worrier316 Nixon was NOT a great president. Economically, he was, like every other GOP prez, a disaster. Only Bush Sr had LOWER numbers for job growth and over all growth in GDP. that's based upon the OFFICIAL numbers at the U.S. Commerce Dept - B.E.A. and data gathered and compiled by the U.S. Census Bureau.

  • i feel bad for nixon. I mean he was so caught up on his past political failures, that his own determination to succeed and never lose again led him to his downfall

  • So it turns out Richard Nixon had some kind of connection with Jack Rubenstein. Because of that there is a suspicion that Jack Ruby was a cia informant. This doesn't necessarily mean that they were in cahoots over the events around the time of Kennedys death but it does hold questions. Especially now that Jack Ruby spoke of it like it was a conspiracy of some sort. While some just blame it on emotion as disliking for Oswald because of him killing Kennedy.

  • is it me or is nixon and the interviewer extremely close to eachother

  • Just cos he looks like a criminal, sounds like a criminal and behaves like a criminal doesn't mean that he is a criminal... does it... or am I missing something here?

  • ? seriously that is not backed by any evidence
