See http://pedalsteelguitartracks.web.officelive.com if you want pedal steel on your recordings.
An old one that Lloyd played some nice licks on.
My fourth string has developed an annoying 'ring', try to ignore it, I promise to put a new string on before my next Youtube adventure

  • I wanted to make sure (after leaving the comment below) that I hadn't stuck my foot in my mouth. I pulled my Don Williams vinyl, and played that track. Lloyd's only effect on that track was a very slight amount of chorus effect. It was nearly dry as far as reverb as well. This is just offered to you as information... you're a damn fine pedal steel player.

  • Hi Matt,

You have found my Achilles Heel !!

I am addicted to delay, probably from gigging for many years.

I really ought to try and get a good reverb, instead of delay, or just wean myself off delay a bit at a time.

Thanks for your input, I welcome constructive criticism, and will try to reduce the effects level on my next Youtube video

  • Lovely playing as usual Richard when are you coming to show us some moves down at the meeting? Roy Heap

  • Maybe when the weather warms up a bit, Roy

  • I have to add on the delay issue, I think it is what gives Richard his unique sound.

    I love it!.

  • Ha Ha! Well, we all have an Achilles Heel... Mine is owning a Sho-Bud LDG, and not being able to play it worth a damn. I wish I had a data port on the back of my head, and a matching port on that pedal steel... lol. I know that at some point, I'll get over the learning curve "hump" and it will click, but not there yet. However, watching you using the steel like an effortless extension of your body inspires me to practice, lol.

  • You're a great player, but as a sound engineer, can I offer some respectfully submitted criticism? I see a lot of pedal steel players that have gone "effects crazy" lately. The quality of the delay unit you're using is great sounding, but you're using too much of it... it's just too "wet" in the mix in my honest professional opinion. You have a lot of note overlap taking place which garbles the clean playing style that you obviously posess. Less is more... delay should be almost subliminal.

  • This tune is Some Broken Hearts Never Mend.

  • fantastic!

  • Good work.

    Keep on keepin on.

  • Magician !!!
