because spanish music has arabic influences. the reason for that is that the south of spain was ruled by the Moors for a long time until the two largest kingdoms decided to fight the moors out of spain (16th century). then morocco, west sahara was a part of spain.. knowledge, music culture.. many many things remained from the arabic world in spain.. but of course this goes more deeper and you can find tons more information if you look for that.. its also an important fact for european history
